Auntie Bea

                     “I’m looking over

                     A four-leaf clover

                     That I overlooked

                     Before…”

“You have a lucky backyard, Auntie Bea.” I said at age 10.

“Why do you say that, Anne?”

“Because you have lots and lots of four-leaf clovers growing.”

“Take as many as you like, but once you pick them, they will die soon after.  By the way, if you like, you can go up to my attic and try on the old clothes.  I know you love doing that,”

“OK, Auntie Bea.  I’ll do that.”

So, I went up to Auntie Bea’s attic and there were boxes and boxes of old clothes to dress up in.  And I did just that.  I put on skirts and blouses and then more skirts and more blouses.  And I was having a ball.  But I started getting tired, so I sat down in this old armchair and relaxed.  Then I heard a voice.

          “Hello, I hope I didn’t wake you.”

          “No, I’m fine.”

It was the Knight in Shining Armor who was standing in the corner.

“I see in the middle of the room a whole bunch of four-leaf clovers you picked,” said the Knight in Shining Armor.  “If you like I can take you to the Land of the Four-Leaf Clovers.”

“Thank you, Sir Knight, I’d love to go.”

“My carriage is right outside. Let’s go.”

And so, we went.  We traveled over hills and lakes and through villages until we finally got to The Land of the Four-Leaf Clovers.  There were four-leaf clovers all over.  We even went to a restaurant and had a lunch of four-leaf clovers.

“You look tired,” said Sir Knight to me.  “Let’s go back into my carriage, where you can take a nap.”

“OK,” I said.  And so, we went back to Sir Knight’s carriage and I sat down and took a nap.”

When I woke up, there I was, sitting in an armchair in Auntie Bea’s attic.
